Sneaky Pete Pool Cues

Sneaky Pete Cues

A Sneaky Pete looks like the cue hanging on the wall of the bar and plays like the cue in your case. Plain maple, wrapless handle, a splice where a house cue would have nothing — and underneath, a proper two-piece with a straight shaft and a real tip. The name comes from exactly what you think it does.

Why players buy them

Three reasons, in order of honesty. It draws no attention in a room where a flashy cue does. It is the most cue you can get for the money, because you are not paying for inlays. And a wrapless handle stays clean and feels the same in any weather, which is why plenty of players use one as their main cue and never think about it again.

What's here

ASKA — the SP and SP1 spliced maple cues in 58", and short Sneaky Petes in 36", 42", 48" and 52" for younger players and tight rooms.

Players and Energy by Players — cocobolo, zebrawood, redwood and cobalt blue over hard rock maple, with 13 mm and 12.75 mm Le Pro tips.

Lucasi — the LZ2000 and LZSP series, including LUX Sneaky Petes: the same plain look with a Zero Flexpoint low-deflection shaft and a Uni-Loc joint underneath. This is the version that surprises people.

Pure X, Rage and Valhalla — curly maple with bocote, exotic splices, and the Rage Heavy Hitter at 25 oz for players who want a sneaky break cue.

Choosing one

Most Sneaky Petes use the 5/16x18 joint, so a spare or low-deflection shaft can be added later. Tip size runs 11.75–13 mm: 13 mm is the forgiving house-cue feel, 12.75 mm and below give finer control. Weights sit in the usual 18–21 oz range, except the break-weight models.
